About WNU
Weinan Normal University (WNU) is situated in the eastern part of Shaanxi Province, with a 40 minutes drive to Xi¡¯an. Its campuses can be found in Weinan District of Weinan City.
Weinan Normal University focus on educating qualified undergraduates, and now it is cooperating with several famous universities with our teachers as postgraduate supervisors or doctorial tutors. A group of prestigious leaders, renowned academicians, experts or scholars are invited as Advisors of President of WNU. The current teaching staff in the university comes to 1,198, of whom professional teachers are 879 and teachers with the title of professor or associate professor account for 35%. In a few long and well-developed schools or departments, the rate of teachers with Master¡¯s Degree or Doctor¡¯s Degree comes up to 52.7% and 23.1% separately. ¡°Weihua Scholars¡±, a group of leading pioneers (some are also doctorial tutors) in discipline construction, forms the vanguards of WNU in the field of academic research, of whom some have been awarded Science and Technology Progress Award at state-level or provincial levels, some are granted as Outstanding Contribution Expert, or Special Government Allowances Expert or Outstanding Teachers of Shaanxi Province, some are ¡°Three-Five¡± talents.
The campuses cover an area totaling to 870,000 square meters, with a floor space about 500,000 square meters. Besides, the university¡¯s real estate such as the advanced teaching and research equipment amounts to several billion RMB, and the collection of books in the library amounts to 1,700,000 copies. Currently, the discipline structure of the university tends to be more comprehensive, including
9 main discipline subjects/programs, namely, Economics, Law,Education, Literature, History, Science, Engineering, Management and Arts. There are 11 schools, 29 departments and 49 majors. Now Students enrolled in WNU are from 31 different provinces, of the full-time ones come up to 16,216.
Weinan Normal University attached great importance to the discipline construction in the past or will insist it in the years to come. Now the university has a group of Provincial-level Key Discipline Subjects, State-level or Provincial-level Specialty Majors, Provincial-level Fine Courses, Provincial-level Bilingual Model Courses, Provincial-level Innovative Experiment Bases for Teaching, Provincial-level Model
Teaching Center for Experiment and the Provincial-level Teaching Teams. Moreover, 30 academic institutes or centers have been established, of which 20 is operated at provincial levels.
With abundant teaching resources and solid scientific research strength£¬WNU
has made great achievements in the past a few years. For
example, many teachers or researchers conducted the research projects sponsored by the National Social Science Fund, or the National Natural Science Fund, or the National Soft Science Research Fund or the National Post-doctoral Science Fund, or fund from local government and other relevant state-level or provincial-level projects. The prominent academic achievements can be seen from a large number of prizes won at different levels, of which some are awarded at state-level or by the Ministry of Education or other relevant Ministries, others are granted as Award of Outstanding Achievement in Philosophy & Social Sciences of Shaanxi Province, the Award of Science & Technology, the Award of Science and Technology Progress, the Award of National Defense Science and Technology Progress, the Award of University Science and Technology, or the Award of Teaching Achievement, etc.
Standing at a new starting point, Weinan Normal University is ready to have a new race under the leadership of the Party Committee of WNU.
